anti wrinkle treatment testimonial

July 26th, 2010 by aesthetics

Dear Dr Singh,

I’m just writing to let you know how happy I am with the treatment I received at you practice.

I have had Botox administered several times in the past-mostly at clinics outside the UK- and I can honestly say that the results have never been as good as they are now.

I was particularly impressed that you took so many “before” and “after” photos for comparison and in my follow up appointment your concern and care that I was satisfied with the results was exemplary.

I would have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending you and indeed have already done so to several work colleagues.

I look forward to seeing you at my next appointment. I only wish I had enough money for a complete overhaul.

Regards,

AD

see your new smile before you go ahead

July 19th, 2010 by aesthetics

You would not buy a new pair of shoes, glasses or item of clothing before trying them on and committing yourself to the purchase. So why not have the same reassurance with your new smile.

There are a number of ways you can predict and see what your new smile will look like:

‘wax-up’

This is where a mould of your existing teeth is taken and sent off to the laboratory. A wax mock – up is created by putting wax on the mould, giving an indication of what your new smile will look like. You can take the wax-up home to show your family and friends. We will not proceed with any treatment until you are completely satisfied with the wax-up.

trial veneers

If you need veneers or crowns to achieve that perfect smile, we can show you the final result. Once you are happy with the wax-up, we use it to construct the trial veneers. The wax-up effect is then transferred to your teeth. You are left with these for a couple of days to judge their appearance and function. The great thing about these trial restorations are that they are very easy to modify in the mouth. Once you are happy with the trial restorations, we take an impression of them, and the laboratory will copy them exactly.

For more information visit cosmetic dentist herts or telephone 01707 261367

Some dentists use cosmetic imaging software, to show you the final possible result. In our experience we have found that this may give you unrealistic expectations and you may be disappointed with the final result. We are completely honest with you at the beginning and if we feel it is not possible to produce the results you want because they are unrealistic or because it will damage the long term prognosis of your teeth, we will refuse to carry out any procedures.

At aesthetics our emphasis is on creating natural looking smiles, not fake, large Hollywood Smile. We aim for the ‘European Smile’. Ultimately you, as the patient, have the final choice, we would advise you on what we recommend and what would look natural.

8 Enemies Of Skin

July 12th, 2010 by aesthetics

Sun

Premature skin ageing caused by damage to collagen occurs from inadequate protection from UV rays. See section on sun protection on how to prevent this damage.

Stress

Adrenalin is released when we are stressed, this restricts blood flow to the skin, slowing cell turnover and resulting in a dull complexion. Antioxidant rich foods such as berries and tomatoes will reduce this problem. It is also essential to take out time to relax

Hormones

When we have an excess of oestrogen (Post Menstrual Syndrome) we get excess oil production. When we have depleted oestrogen (menopause) we get a decrease in oil production. We can prevent this by regular exercise which will increase the blood flow to the skin.

Diet

As the largest organ in the body, your skin is directly affected by your diet.  Poor diet will lead to acid by products that deposit in the tissues of the body, including the skin. An acidic environment promotes more inflammation. See section on skinutrition for further information.

Lack of sleep

While we are sleeping the body and skin has time to repair and rejuvenate.

Smoking

Nicotine narrows the blood vessels and prevents blood from circulating to the upper layer of the skin. This destroys collagen and so smokers’ skin has more lines and wrinkles.

Alcohol

This dehydrates the skin, leaving it dry and irritated. Excess alcohol can cause swollen blood vessels, resulting in tiny red veins to appear on the skin’s surface and make the face look flushed.

Pollution and environment

Dirt from this source can coat the skin’s surface, this in turn blocks pores.

Wonky teeth

How can I get them?

They normally take 2 visits. The first visit involves slight preparation of the teeth and taking impressions. The second visit the veneers are bonded on.

What other options are there?

If you are just unhappy with the position of the teeth, then invisalign  may be more suitable for you.

If the colour is a concern, then teeth whitening could benefit you.

Does it hurt?

Not at all. We aim to make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

How will I now what I will look like?

We will produce a ‘wax up’ of the final result. You have total control over the final result and can modify this.

dental implants in herts

July 2nd, 2010 by aesthetics

We have had a number of enquires regarding dental implants. Here are the most frequently asked questions and their answers:

When are implants indicated?

If you have gaps or missing teeth and there is sufficient jaw bone to hold the implant.

When are implants not indicated?

If there is insufficient bone, a traumatic bite is present or there is active gum disease.

What can you do for me with implants?

We can restore gaps in your mouth and hold dentures in place more firmly with implant retained dentures.

Why cant I just have dentures?

Dentures are not fixed in your jaw unlike implants, if there is not much support for the detures, these will  move around. You can either have implants by themselves or if a number of teeth are missing, you can have implant retained dentures.

Why cant I just have a bridge?

This is an option, but would normally require drilling down the teeth on either side of the gap.

How long do they last?

All our work is guaranteed for 5 years. However on average the implants should last around 15-20 years.

What is the process?

After the initial assessment , there are 2 stages involved. The first is the placement of the implant and then after a suitable period, the false tooth is placed over the implant.

How long does it take?

The average timescale is around 6 months.

How much might it cost?

The implant itself is around £2500.

Can I have sedation?

This is possible. We are here to make your treatment as comfortable as possible.

Will it hurt?

Not at all. We will make every visit as comfortable as possible.

What if I have no teeth, what can you do for me?

You could have implant retained dentures which are much more stable then dentures alone.

My dentures wobble, what can be done?

You could be a candidate for implant retained dentures.

Fizzy drinks and teeth

June 23rd, 2010 by aesthetics

At dental school we placed a tooth in a glass of coke and when we came back the next morning, the tooth had dissolved!

Acid erosion is a common problem we face when seeing our dental patients.

Even worse for erosion are the diet drinks. Since they have no or little sugar the acid is more concentrated.

We have recently seen an increase in the number of tooth erosion cases in the last few months. One of the main causes is an acidic diet. This will consists of fizzy diet drinks, yogurts and acidic fruits.

Prevention is key here. We recommend:

1.Get your teeth checked by your dentist for early signs of erosion

2.Never brush your teeth immediately after anything acidic

3.Neutralise the acid by using a fluoride mouthwash

aesthetics are pleased to announce that it is the first clinic in Hertfordshire to be registered under treatments you can trust for injectabile cosmetics.

June 21st, 2010 by aesthetics

You need to take care when choosing who treats you, and where, and with what.  It is your body after all – take care of it.

Injected substances for cosmetic treatments, such as Botox® and dermal fillers, are becoming increasingly popular.

Performed by trained people in the right surroundings, these treatments are safe.

You can only be sure the person you are going to allow to inject you is a suitably qualified and the premises safe when you see the IHAS Quality Assurance Mark:

Before you select your cosmetic treatment Treatments You Can Trust helps guide you to making a safe choice.  Consult the Register of people and organisations that are qualified to administer injectable cosmetic treatments – http://www.treatmentsyoucantrust.co.uk/Pages/Directory.aspx

When you visit a cosmetic treatment establishment – Look out for the logo – if it is displayed be sure that you are getting Treatments You Can Trust.

Owner of aesthetics, Dr Harry Singh was asked by IHSA to take part in an interview, due to him being one of the first in the country to undergo this voluntary registration. Here are the questions they asked him:

Why did you want to register with the IHAS scheme?

2 fold – one is to review our systems, there is also room for improvement, so this would improve our knowledge and the patients experience and service. Second to gain recognition and set us apart from the competition. With so many clinics offering injectabiles, patients are confused and may just go for the cheapest, now we can promote our registration.

+ Do you see this as an important quality assurance mark to receive?

Definitely, it’s the first of its kind. Since it is quite stringent it will put some clinics off or some may not be up to the standard. By registering we have placed ourselves to a certain standard and our happy for me to assess us.

+ Do you think this is important for the wider industry?

Yes, there is a lot of confusion in the general public on who can do what, what training is required, etc. This has set a standard and the public will hopefully seek this standard out when choosing a clinic.

+ Will you be marketing the fact that you have received the quality assurance mark to your patients?

Yes, definitely. Hope to do press releases in the local paper, advertise it on our website and literature.

+ Do you think this will help your business?

Hope so. It all depends on how this is promoted to the general public. Its good to be on the register, but if patients are not searching for it, then we will never be found. We will do our own promotion and this should increase our presence in the local community.

what have i been up to

June 17th, 2010 by aesthetics

Its been a hectic last few weeks. in no particular order – attending conferences, providing first class service to our patients, looking at the business side of aesthetics and spending quality time with the children.

One of the highlights was attending a dental conference in Las Vegas. It seems that everyone in Vegas lives life to the max and looking after themselves is high on their list. I have never seen so many straight and white teeth and wrinkle free faces.

The conference itself was an eye opener, once I got over to standing up for the national anthem the content was very good. its a shame some of the companies exhibiting don’t do anything for the UK.

Look out for some changes at aesthetics once we implement some of the stuff I learnt from this.
